Welcome to
The Little Mill Inn

The Little Mill Inn is an iconic country pub and B&B in the heart of the Peak District countryside, close to Kinder Scout and The Pennine Way, with many walking and cycling/mountain biking routes straight from our door.

The changing of the seasons is the perfect time to enjoy our beautiful, rural setting.     Think crisp morning walks, a host of red and golden leaves on the ground and darker evenings to enjoy superb food by our roaring log fire.

Unfortunately (as you will be more than aware) we have now  entered our 3rd national lockdown, our small business has been closed since the 5th November and we do not have any idea when we may be able to reopen 🙁

Take care everybody!

5 Great reasons to enjoy a staycation!

The UK hospitality industry has been under unprecedented pressure over the last year or so, (as have many other industries) by staycationing in the UK you are helping to support the UK economy, keeping businesses open and people in jobs. We are proud to support British food and farming, our meats are either from local Rowarth farmers or Mac Burnham, an award winning local family butcher. Our fish is delivered (every day) fresh from Fleetwood, so by supporting us you are also supporting British farmers and fishermen.

2. Explore your home turf

The Peak District is well-renowned as one of the most beautiful areas in the UK. The country’s oldest national park covers over 555 square miles  and is definitely one part of the UK where you can escape the crowds and maintain social distance. With stunning moorland (Kinder Scout), the famous Pennine way, gorgeous rolling hills, beautiful trout fishing rivers (the Derwent) and some of the best walking and cycling trails in the UK. Seek out our underground caverns (such as Blue John), magnificent national trust estates (Chatsworth), stunning architecture (Buxton Spa town) and some of the best food in the country.

3. No passport required

One major bonus of the staycation is that you can just jump in the car and go. No passports are needed, there’s no queuing at the airport and you know your luggage will also arrive safely, because you don’t have to check anything in.

4. That feeling of home, but away

Staycations give new experiences but with some of the creature comforts of home (knowing the language for one) when you’re staying somewhere new in the UK you can still enjoy that feeling of discovery and adventure that a foreign holiday can bring.

5. Discover more

Amazing sites and places to visit don’t just exist in other countries! Staying in Britain for a holiday allows you to discover real beauty on your doorstep. In fact, the UK is home to 31 World Heritage Sites, almost 50 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and thousands of world-famous tourist attraction

Astounding food in a beautiful location.
I didn’t think the food could get any better, it was exceptional. The service and cleanliness as is the norm here was impeccable. The food stole the show, the quality of the ingredients stand out but the chef certainly knows how to marry flavours together. Fine dining with the homely pub feel done at its best and without the fine dining price tag. I can’t wait to come back in August.
Wow wow wow!
This place is amazing!!! The staff, the food, the drinks, the PUDDINGS! The view, the play area, the stream! Everything! What’s not to like!
A Big thank you for making our visit amazing!
Best place ever….
Although this place is of the beaten track it was absolutely fab, fell in love with it straight away, the ground this place is situated on is amazing, very quiet and peaceful, staff were exceptional, very friendly and happy to help. We stayed over and the rooms were very clean and modern and comfortable. Had an evening meal and it was fantastic, well presented and cooked to perfection the chef is spot on. Breakfast was also great cooked to order Dogs very welcome
Amazing two night stay with our little boy
We stayed at the Little Mill Inn as we were visiting relatives near by. We booked a room for two nights for myself & husband and our 3.5 year old son. The rooms are really comfortable and very nicely decorated. Even though it was a bit drizzly when we arrived, there is outside space that is undercover to have drinks/meals outside and watch the kids play in the fantastic play area. There is so much space and nature around you, I felt myself relaxing instantly. I loved the chickens, ducks and Geese roaming around and the sound of the water rushing. The food was absolutely superb. I saw some other recommendations for the salt and pepper chicken burger so tried it and was not disappointed. In fact we were really impressed with all our meals. The only problem is trying to decide what to choose as everything on the menu is so tempting. The staff are all really friendly, although our favourite member of staff
is Charlie the Cockapoo!

Food provenance: knowing where food was grown, caught, raised and sustainability, knowing how food was produced, knowing how food was transported.

We’re proud of everything that goes into our delicious, homemade dishes. Wherever we can, we look to source our ingredients locally and are proud to support British food and farming. For example our meats are either from local Rowarth farmers or Mac Burnham, a local award winning family butcher. Our team of young and talented chefs are also constantly on the lookout for fresh and tasty seasonal produce to create exciting (ever changing) new dishes for you. Most herbs and a selection of our vegetables are grown in our own organic herb garden.

Our five bright and modern B&B rooms have everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing getaway. All rooms have a wall mounted flat screen TV, tea & coffee making facilities, bed linen, towels and toiletries. Breakfast is included in the price of each room.
